The YMCA offers a variety of day camps to assist with the out-of-school care needs that families experience during breaks. Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter break camps offer a variety of fun, educational, and constructive activities sure to keep your youth enthused during their time away from the classroom. Each camp offers a uniquely themed experience with hands on activities, crafts, team building activities, and music to help our youth grow and blossom! The YMCA’s values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility is modeled and encouraged throughout each day, all while having a good (and affordable) time. It is very important to the Y to offer a safe, nurturing environment for our youth while out of school, and ensuring that we offer the best programming with the best staff is our personal mission for your family!
After School Program (ASP)
Come work with our friendly, qualified and experienced Enrichment Counselors this year to have a safe, enriching and enjoyable time! Let our staff bring fun and FUNctionality to your week with homework help, character development, leadership building, and healthy lifestyles! Students enjoy hands on activities to enhance their school experiences—while parents enjoy the piece of mind knowing their children are in a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment! Our program alleviates transportation barriers for parents by partnering with Salem and West Washington Schools to offer a YMCA bus stop from to schools directly to the Y campus, and allows a unique partnership between Y Staff and the schools to ensure your student can have success in and out of the classroom! We are more than just child care—we are an opportunity for your child to be valued, challenged, and to grow mind, body, and spirit! Students enjoy an afternoon snack, and lots of physical activity. Program operates all days school is in session--barring early dismisal--and is open from 3:30 pm-6:00 pm. Weekly fees per enrolled student range from $25-$50, based on attendance and membership status.
Our Youth have many different interests—music, art, getting outdoors, reading books, helping the environment, sports, and lots more! Their many interests have the potential to motivate them towards a successful future. In our ROCKs afterschool program, middle school students at all three County Schools will have the opportunity to capitalize on their interests, have fun with friends, and learn about making positive life decisions. The program will bring fun & functionality to students, and will be more than “just a place to go” by addressing important LIFE topics like peer pressure, bullying, and Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug (ATOD) use. Through Search Institute’s Igniting Sparks curriculum, Youth will have an opportunity to find their “spark” and gain skills and confidence to “ROCK THEIR SPARK”. Students will have a chance to receive homework help, wind down from their long day at school, and have a supportive and safe environment to enjoy their afternoons. Youth will set their futures in a ROCK solid foundation with these skills!
Come work out at the YMCA and bring your children with you! While you are exercising your body your children will be exercising their minds by participating in fun, creative, and educational activities. This service is free to Members (must be dependent children included on Family Membership) and $5 per child per visit to all non-members.
Staff are not permitted to diaper or assist children in the restroom. Parents must be in the building during Kid’s Club utilization in case a need arises for your child. Parents must remain on YMCA property while their children are participating in Kid's Club.
