Teen Fit Classes Start in September

Teen Fit

The Washington County Family YMCA will be offering Teen Fit Classes again this fall, set to start in September at their facility in Salem.

Classes are open to participants ages 10 and up, and will begin Monday, September 18th.  Offerings are held on Mondays 3:30pm, following the school day, and will run through October 30th—transportation is available from the Salem Community Schools to the YMCA.

These 45 minute classes are geared towards teens, and giving them the tools they need to have a positive self-concept and healthy lifestyle.  Youth learn not only the value of physical activity, but the value of themselves.  Through group exercise and healthy living curriculum, youth improve their self-image.

Afterschool Program Now Enrolling

Come work with our friendly, qualified and experienced Enrichment Counselors this year to have a safe, enriching and enjoyable time!

Let our staff bring fun and FUNctionality to your week with homework help, character development, leadership building, and healthy lifestyles! Students enjoy hands on activities to enhance their school experiences—while parents enjoy the piece of mind knowing their children are in a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment! Our program alleviates transportation barriers for parents by partnering with Salem and West Washington Schools to offer a YMCA bus stop from to schools directly to the Y campus, and allows a unique partnership between Y Staff and the schools to ensure your student can have success in and out of the classroom! We are more than just child care—we are an opportunity for your child to be valued, challenged, and to grow mind, body, and spirit! Students enjoy an afternoon snack, and lots of physical activity. Program operates all days school is in session--barring early dismisal--and is open from 3:30 pm-6:00 pm. Weekly fees per enrolled student range from $25-$50, based on attendance and membership status.

Putting Christian Principles into practice that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

The Washington County Family YMCA is a volunteer led charitable organization of men, women, and children of all ages, abilities, races and religions. Our mission is to put Christian Principles into practice that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

The Y is a leading voice on health and well being. We bring families closer together, encourage good health, and foster connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. As a result, 4,125 people in our community are receiving the support, guidance, and resources they need to achieve greater health in spirit, mind, and body. This is particularly important as our nation struggles with an obesity crisis, families struggle with work/life balance, and individuals search for personal fulfillment. Our programs are accessible, affordable, and open to all faiths, backgrounds, abilities, and income levels. In 2016, the Y served 4,125 people and provided $47,500 in financial assistance to 502 families who otherwise would have faced economic barriers to participation.
